Since I've been in the cleaning/organizing mode, I pulled out some of my books on the topic for some extra inspiration. I thought I'd share some of the best tips and ideas I've found while going through the books. I plan on doing a few posts each week for the month of April on this topic.
I've rounded up three tips for today. I hope this gives you some fresh ideas on how to better organize your home and life.
#1 "In general, things should be stored as close as possible to where you're most likely to use them. Keep your desk well-stocked with everyday supplies such as pens and stamps; keep tablecloths in or near the kitchen/dining room; keep the TV remote on or near the TV."

I try to do this around our house. For us it means keeping the vacuum cleaner upstairs in one of the closets since the carpets are upstairs. I also keep the broom and swiffer mop tucked beside the fridge since I mainly use them in the kitchen and dining area. Having the supplies on hand in the parts of the house I need them means I'm more likely to use them! (I need all the help and extra motivation I can get.)
#2 "Next time you plug a bunch of cords into a power strip/bar, label each one first using a standard office label." Source: Home Solutions, Josh Garskof

#3 "Keep sports gear organized and out of the way by stowing it inside a laundry sorting cart." Source: Home Solutions, Josh Garskof

This would also enable kids to roll the cart out into the driveway or yard to play and then back into the garage or shed when they are finished and need to clean up.
Well my friends, that's all for today, but there will be many more tips and tricks to come. April is only begun!
