Hello there! I hope you're all refreshed after the weekend, although that's not likely the case for everyone. Sometimes weekends can be more tiring than the weekdays! If you have little ones, you've probably been busy putting costumes together. What fun! And Happy Halloween by the way.
I've been over at Amazon lately looking at some decorating books. (Much of my inspiration comes from reading other blogs and decorating magazine, but a good design book is hard to beat.) I haven't amassed a large number of design/decorating books, but I'm slowly adding to my collection. So far, my favourite decorating book is Domino: The Book of Decorating by Deborah Needleman.
Domino is filled with lots of great advice and inspiration. It offers some really practical and helpful tips too. I enjoyed the sections on how to mix and match furnishings to create a personal look. The back of the book has resource material on everything from furniture styles to how high curtain rods should be hung above a window. I've read it all and have referenced it many times. I would highly recommend it. Deborah's own home is featured in a section of the book. I love how cozy and family-friendly her living room looks.
A few more shots of her home...
Deborah has recently come out with another book, The Perfectly Imperfect Home: How to Decorate and Live Well. I don't know about you, but if imperfect can somehow become perfect, that would be alright with me. (I'm pretty good at the imperfect part, so here's hoping.) I've heard some rave reviews of the book, and if it's anything like Domino, we're in for a real treat! The title will be released on November 1st (yep, that's tomorrow)!
I can't wait to delve into it, and I'll be sure to let you know how I like it. Enjoy your day!
