I came across this great tip in my blog travels today. It comes from Sherry at Young House Love in a post about hunting for the perfect area rug for the master bedroom in her home. You can read the full post here but the tip she mentions is to use painter's tape to visualize the size of the area rug you are considering for a given space.
For example, if you think you need an 8x10 rug for your living room then get out your painter's tape and tape the 8x10 dimensions out on your floor. This will give you a really good picture as to whether or not you've chosen the right size and even the right shape for your space. Brilliant! Why didn't I think of that? A great tip to help you choose the right rug the first time.
